A Pre-Cut Sauna includes all of the materials cut to size and complete sauna assembly instructions, you will have everything you need to know how to build a sauna. You can even use our sauna plans. A Modular Sauna Thuja modular saunas are easy to assemble with complete Sauna Plans. They are completely prefabricated and insulated with finished cedar exterior siding. Thuja Sauna -- Our name says it all
Thuja Plicata is the scientific name of Red Cedar, a strong, hardy wood that grows in NorthWest British Columbia. We feel that it is the most beautiful and strongest wood to make saunas. Thuja Sauna got its start from exporting our cedar saunas and sauna products to Finland, where the quality of Thuja cedar Saunas is widely recognized. Cedar Sauna Select Clear All Thuja cedar saunas are made with kiln dried clear select Western Red Cedar. Thuja Sauna cuts and mills its own cedar tongue and groove (T & G) boards to put into our cedar saunas.What does it mean to you?
- Kiln dried cedar Cedar is a very stable wood that does not stretch or swell like other woods. Stretching and swelling causes the wood to crack, especially around nails or staples. By kiln drying our wood, we make it even more stable since there is no moisture in the wood, causing it to expand.
- Clear Select cedar Clear select refer to the quality of the boards: they have no knots. Knots in wood concentrate heat, which can cause burns to sauna users. Because we use clear boards, you will not burn your skin on knots. BC cedar is of the highest quality. The grain and clear texture of the wood add to any sauna.
- Red cedar Red cedar is not just beautifully when you get it: it will not discolor to the same degree as other woods...like Redwood. As a result, your sauna will keep its beautiful color longer. We still recommend that you seal it to protect the wood and prevent staining from sweat and body oil. Even cedar will stain over time if not maintained.
- We cut our own cedar boards At Thuja, we make our own tongue and groove cedar boards, made especially for our cedar saunas. On top of being made from the highest quality cedar, our boards are cut thicker, making them sturdier and less likely to crack when nailed in during installation or from aging. Most sauna boards are cut to a thickness of 11mm (7/16"). Our board are cut to 15mm (11/16"). They are stronger and will not bend or crack as much as cheaper, thinner boards. You can rest assured that your investment in a Thuja sauna will be around for quite some time when you use our cedar T&G boards.
- Great for Outdoor Saunas too Cedar contains natural mildicides and fungucides, so outdoor saunas will last longer if they are made with cedar.
